About the HumAngle Technology and Civic Impact Fellowship
The HumAngle Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the HumAngle Technology and Civic Impact Fellowship.
This Fellowship aims to provide cutting-edge technology and innovation training to members of civic society and other relevant actors.
It will help selected professionals leverage technology for actionable advocacy and accountability within public institutions.

The HumAngle Technology and Civic Impact Fellowship targets journalists, activists, and civil society members with a record of excellence from the nation’s six geopolitical zones.
The program follows a two-part model: a five-day in-person training in the FCT, followed by a three-month post-training period to allow fellows to apply their learnings.
Training sessions will cover topics such as:
— Policy Advocacy and Public Accountability
— Research and Fact-Checking for Social Impact
— Maximizing Artificial Intelligence in the Nigerian Context
— Data for Civic Engagement
— Techniques for Immersive Storytelling
— Ethical Considerations in Leveraging Technology for Impact
— Conflict Reporting and Humanitarian Response
Who Can Apply for the HumAngle Technology and Civic Impact Fellowship?
The Fellowship is open to journalists, activists, and civil society actors who:
— Are aged between 21 and 35
— Have at least 2 years of proven experience in advocacy, technology, research and data, impactful journalism, humanitarian activities, or public policy.
Eligibility Criteria:
— Must be employed by or affiliated with a reputable organization.
— Must have an interest in leveraging technology for social impact.
Benefits:

— Access to a community of civil society actors across the six geopolitical zones and professional resources.

— Publication or feature of their projects on HumAngle Media.
— Acquisition of skills in data-informed advocacy, AI/tech in storytelling, and activism.
— All-expense-paid travel to the FCT for the five-day training, plus a stipend for that duration.
Expectations for Fellows:
— Commitment to a five-day in-person training in the FCT and completion of the three-month HumAngle Technology and Civic Impact Fellowship.
— Engagement in one innovative project leveraging technology.
— Submission of monthly reports on project development and execution.
— Development of projects based on personal passions and skills, aligned with the Fellowship’s objectives.
About the Personal Project:
— Projects should focus on issues related to accountability, human rights, transparency, and democracy, using innovative technology.
— Projects may include humanitarian service, advocacy campaigns, in-depth journalistic reports, training sessions, policy advocacy, research, or similar strategies.

— Projects should serve the public interest, use the HumAngle FOI platform, and have SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound) goals for the three-month duration of the Fellowship.
Application Deadline:
— The call for applications closes on July 12, 2024.
Long-Term Engagement:
— The fellowship aims to establish a long-term relationship between HumAngle and its alumni to sustain the initiative’s objectives for the public good.
