About The Amina Project
We are excited to introduce The Amina Project, a pioneering initiative by TALENTCODEAFRICA focused on empowering financially disadvantaged women and teenage girls through tech skills training, internships, and job placements.
Inspired by Queen Amina, a legendary Nigerian figure known for bravery, leadership, and female independence, The Amina Project aligns with our corporate goal of empowering and positioning over 10 million African tech talents by 2030.

Our commitment includes closing the gender gap in the African tech sector by providing comprehensive tech skills training to 2000 women and teenage girls in need.
Phase 1: Technology Training
In Phase 1, we will train 2000 financially disadvantaged women and teenage girls from low to middle-income backgrounds.
The training program spans three months and includes instruction in high-demand tech skills like web development, mobile app development, cloud computing, data science and analytics, product management, product design, robotics, and cybersecurity.
Phase 2: Internship and Job Opportunities
Following completion of the training, top graduates from each cohort will have opportunities for internships and job placements facilitated through partnerships with corporate organizations.
Participants who do not receive immediate job placements will have the chance to join a community group.
Here, they will receive mentorship and guidance from female industry experts as they begin their journey into the tech field.
Background
Inspired by Queen Amina, a revered historical figure in the city-state of Zazzau, this project draws parallels with Egypt’s Cleopatra. Queen Amina symbolizes African womanhood, courage, leadership, and independence.

Her enduring legacy spans generations, offering a compelling narrative that deeply connects with the empowerment and progress of African women.
At sixteen, Amina was designated as Magajiya (heir apparent). Soon after, she distinguished herself as a prominent warrior in her brother’s cavalry, gaining fame for her military prowess.
Today, traditional Hausa praise songs continue to celebrate her as “Amina daughter of Nikatau, a woman as capable as a man, leading men into battle.”
Following her brother Karami’s death in 1576, Amina ascended to become the first queen of the Hausa people, ruling for 34 years.
In an age where digital skills equate to power and influence, Queen Amina’s legacy resonates more strongly than ever.

If she were with us today, Queen Amina would undoubtedly be a digitally savvy leader, using technology to strengthen her kingdom and guide women into an era of self-reliance and prosperity.
Naming our initiative after Queen Amina reflects her fearless spirit; we aim to empower every girl and woman with the tools to unleash their full potential.
To achieve independence in their careers, inspiring others and creating a lasting impact and wealth that spans generations.
This is the core of our initiative – nurturing leaders who, like Queen Amina, can revolutionize their communities.
