Introducing the AFC Fellowship 2024 for Young Africans
Applications are now available for the 2024 Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) Fellowship.
The AFC Fellowship unites emerging leaders from Africa, the broader Global South, and the Global North.
It serves as a leadership development program and a forum for dialogue and collaboration among rising leaders from different regions.

The program focuses on addressing our common climate challenges and other global issues.
It aims to enhance the skills of a group of dynamic emerging leaders who will foster connections between the Global North and South and innovate solutions for the climate crisis as they advance in their careers.
The AFC Fellowship is a partnership between Common Purpose and Africa Finance Corporation (AFC).
Building on the pilot program’s success in 2023, which involved 50 participants worldwide, the AFC Fellowship aims to expand its impact.
Program Overview
To participate in the AFC Fellowship, candidates must first be accepted into the Climate Challenge Leadership Program.

Successful applicants will join a diverse cohort of 40 individuals from various backgrounds and sectors worldwide.
The Climate Challenge Leadership Program consists of two main components:
Leading Beyond Authority
Participants will engage with Common Purpose’s concept of ‘Leading Beyond Authority’—the capability to transcend boundaries and achieve outcomes beyond one’s immediate sphere of influence.
This skill is crucial for addressing complex challenges.
Requirements
Successful applicants will represent diverse sectors, backgrounds, countries, and communities across Africa, the broader Global South, and the Global North.
They should be:
— Emerging leaders (usually with more than 5 years of professional experience)
— Highly motivated individuals dedicated to fostering positive change, demonstrating leadership potential or capability

Program Details
Format: Online – sessions are conducted live on Zoom. Learning resources and materials are accessible 24/7 via our online platform.
Cost: There is no fee for participants as the program is funded by the Africa Finance Corporation.
Language: The program is conducted in English; participants must have proficiency in written and spoken English.
Key Dates:
— October 10, 2024: Online platform opens – 3 hours of independent online learning in preparation for upcoming live sessions.
— October 16, 2024: Program launch session – 1.5 hours live on Zoom.
— October 23 & November 6 & November 14, 2024: Leading Beyond Authority – 6 hours of live sessions on Zoom.
— December 4-5 & December 10-11, 2024: Climate Challenge program – 18 hours of live sessions on Zoom.
— December 17, 2024: Learning & Action Planning session – 1.5 hours live on Zoom.
