Requirements
The Camargo Fellowship offers research-based residencies to applicants from various fields and disciplines. There are three main categories available, along with several subcategories for artists.
Scholars
Scholars in the Arts and Humanities should focus on French and Francophone cultures or cross-cultural studies that engage with the Mediterranean region’s cultures and influences.
To be eligible for a fellowship in the “Scholars” category, applicants must either hold a PhD with a record of post-doctoral scholarship or be PhD candidates in the final stages of their dissertation research or writing.
Thinkers
Thinkers include accomplished professionals and practitioners in cultural and creative fields, such as curators, journalists, critics, urban planners, and independent scholars, who are actively engaged in critical thought.
We are interested in work that intersects with theoretical exploration, the arts, and society. Thinkers must develop reflections that contribute to equitable transitions and produce diverse perspectives.
Artists
Artists should note that the Camargo Fellowship is a research-based residency. Applicants should have maintained a professional practice for at least the past five years.
They should be the primary creators of new work or projects and must demonstrate a track record of publications, public performances, exhibitions, credits, awards, and/or grants.
Residency Periods
The Camargo Fellowship offers residencies lasting 10 weeks each.
The dates for 2025-2026 are:
— Fall 2025: September 10 to November 19, 2025
— Spring 2026: February 24 to May 5, 2026
Number of Fellowships

For air travel, basic coach class booked in advance is covered.
