About the Africa CDC Youth Pre-Conference
The Africa CDC will host the 2024 Africa CDC Youth Pre-Conference (YPC 2024) in Rabat, Morocco, on November 23-24, 2024.
The theme for this year’s event is “Amplifying Youth Voices: Youth Shaping Health Policy, Practice, and Research in Africa.”

The conference aims to showcase the significant contributions of young Africans in health policy, practice, and research, and to explore ways to enhance their engagement and empowerment to drive transformation in the health sector.
YPC 2024 will feature six key tracks where youth are leading the way:
— Youth and Digital Health Innovations
— Empowering Youth: Workforce and Talent Development for Job Opportunities
— Youth for the Advancement of Local Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
— Youth Championing Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS
— Youth Health Advocates Supporting CHWs Activities and Programs
— Youth and One Health for a Healthier Future
Sponsorship
Sponsorships are available for accepted abstracts, articles, and commentaries.
Only one sponsorship per abstract will be granted, and co-authors and collaborators are not eligible. Sponsorships are non-transferable.
Africa CDC Youth Pre-Conference Eligibility
— Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old.
— Applicants must be citizens of an AU member state.
— Applicants should have at least an undergraduate education and some professional experience in health or related fields. Those with significant public health work experience may be considered if their degrees are not in health sciences or public health.
— Participants must demonstrate leadership potential and a strong commitment to public health through involvement in youth-led health initiatives, advocacy, or community organizing.

— The selection process will consider gender, geographical representation (ensuring all AU member states are represented), ethnic and social diversity, and disability status to ensure broad and inclusive participation.
Africa CDC Youth Pre-Conference Application Process
To apply, submit your CV along with a 300-word abstract or article relevant to your chosen track.
Submission Guidelines:
— The abstract or article must align with one of the six tracks and focus on youth in Africa.
— Submissions should be made only once and under one track. Submitting the same abstract to multiple tracks may result in rejection.
— The abstract or article must not exceed 300 words.
Choose one of the following submission options for your application:
— Option 1: A policy or implementation project abstract discussing the theory of change or lessons learned from policy or program development, planning, or implementation.
Submissions under this option must include:
— Title and list of authors
— Background
— Description of the project or policy
— Theory of change behind the policy or program, or lessons learned during implementation (including best practices)
— Conclusion showing the significance for the chosen track
Option 2: Article or commentary with a title and clear thesis on an issue related to African youth and the selected track.
The article or commentary should demonstrate a nuanced and expert understanding of the topic or track.
Option 3: Research abstract reporting research findings.
Submissions must include:
— Title and list of authors
— Background
— Research methods
— Results (disaggregated by age and gender if possible)
— Conclusions demonstrating the significance of the findings to the chosen track.
