About the American Marshall Scholarship
The Marshall Scholarship 2024 funds high-achieving young Americans to pursue a degree in the United Kingdom.
Each year, up to fifty scholars are chosen to study at the graduate level at any UK institution in any field of study.

Marshall Scholarship 2024/2025 Program Objectives
The objectives of the Marshall Scholarship 2024/2025 program are:
— Intellectual Growth: Enable intellectually distinguished young Americans to study in the UK.
— Cultural Appreciation: Help scholars gain an understanding and appreciation of contemporary Britain.
— Academic Advancement: Contribute to the advancement of knowledge in various fields at Britain’s centers of academic excellence.
— Ambassadorship: Motivate scholars to act as ambassadors between the USA and the UK throughout their lives.
— Personal Fulfillment: Promote the personal and academic fulfillment of each scholar.
Key Information
— Open Date: June 3, 2024, at 5 pm BST for the 2025 application cycle.
— Eligibility: Open only to United States citizens who, at the time they begin their Marshall Scholarship 2024/2025, hold a first degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States with a minimum GPA of 3.7. Candidates must have graduated from their undergraduate college or university after April 2022.
— Value: Covers university fees, living expenses, annual book grant, thesis grant, research and daily travel grants, fares to and from the United States, and a contribution towards support.

Dependent Spouse Support
The scholarship may include a contribution toward the support of a dependent spouse if applicable.
Number of Awards
Up to 50 scholarships are awarded annually.
Tenure
— Two-Year Marshall Scholarship: This scholarship lasts for two academic years (22 months) but may be extended by the Commission for strong academic reasons, up to a third academic year.
— One-Year Marshall Scholarship: This scholarship lasts for one academic year (12 months) and cannot be extended.
Eligibility for the 2024/2025 Marshall Scholarship
To be eligible for a 2024/2025 Marshall Scholarship, candidates must:
— Be citizens of the United States of America at the time they apply.
— By September 2025, hold their first undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
— Have obtained a GPA of at least 3.7 in their undergraduate degree at the time of application (rounded GPAs are not accepted).
— Have graduated from their first undergraduate college or university after April 2022.
— Not have studied for or hold a degree or degree-equivalent qualification from a British university, or have taken GCSEs or A Levels in the UK.
Marshall Scholarship 2024/2025 Application Process
Applications are made in one of eight regions in the United States. Candidates may apply in only one region—either where they have their permanent home address or ordinary place of residence/employment, or where they are studying.

The closing date for applications is September 24, 2024, by 5 pm in the time zone of the endorsing location.

Application Submission:
Complete the online application form and submit it through the system to your undergraduate institution.

Your institution will ensure the application is complete and decide whether to endorse it. If endorsed, they will submit it to the appropriate regional committee.
Important Deadlines:
— September 24, 2024: Deadline for applicants and recommenders to submit applications by 5:00 pm in the time zone of your university.
— September 26, 2024: Deadline for endorsement and submission by U.S. institutions by 5:00 pm in the time zone of your university.
Post-Application Process
Applications will be reviewed at eight regional centers in the United States. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in November.
Final selections will be announced shortly after the interviews. Successful applicants will be offered a scholarship in writing and must respond within 10-12 days.
