Introducing the Tech Policy Press 2025 Fellowship
Applications are now open for the Tech Policy Press 2025 Fellowship. Tech Policy Press is a nonprofit media organization dedicated to exploring the intersection of technology and democracy.
We aim to advance a pro-democracy movement in tech policy and are looking for motivated individuals passionate about creating impactful change.

The 2025 Fellowship program offers an exciting opportunity for five reporting fellows to conduct in-depth research and produce thought-provoking writing on artificial intelligence (AI) policy, governance, and regulation.
Fellows will examine various critical topics, including how AI affects society, governance, and democracy.
Potential areas of focus include:
— AI and data privacy
— AI bias and discrimination
— AI and disinformation
— AI and intellectual property
— AI and the future of work
— AI and national security
— AI and competition
Benefits of the Fellowship
Selected fellows will receive a stipend of $10,000 to support their research and writing throughout the fellowship.
This funding is intended to allow fellows to explore their chosen areas of AI policy without financial constraints.
Fellowship Expectations
The fellowship is an interactive and impactful program designed to explore AI’s role in shaping democratic principles.
Fellows are expected to:
— Produce Analysis and Reporting: Regularly publish analyses and reports on the intersection of technology and democracy, with a focus on AI.
— Maintain High Ethical Standards: Adhere to high standards of accuracy, fairness, and integrity in all journalism and research.
— Balance Research, Writing, and Fellowship Activities: Manage time effectively to balance research and writing with active participation in fellowship activities.
— Engage in Learning Opportunities: Take advantage of learning and development opportunities provided by Tech Policy Press, including workshops, guest lectures, and networking events.
— Develop a Network of Experts: Build and maintain a network of expert sources relevant to AI policy.
— Attend Monthly Cohort Meetings: Participate in monthly virtual meetings on the first Monday of each month at 11 a.m. ET for collaboration, updates, and discussions.
— Submit Monthly Progress Reports: Provide a brief progress update before each meeting, detailing work and challenges encountered.

— Participate in One-on-One Mentorship: Meet with mentors and program leaders at least once a month to discuss progress, challenges, and future direction.

— Public LinkedIn Profile or CV/Resume: Provide a clear outline of your professional and academic background.
— Links to Prior Publications: Submit samples of your previous work to demonstrate your writing and research skills.
— References: Include contact information for two professional or academic references who can attest to your qualifications.
