AU-EU Youth Voices Lab – Power of the Collective Overview
The AU-EU Youth Voices Lab – Power of the Collective (AU-EU Youth Voices Lab – PoC) is a four-year initiative co-funded by the European Union and implemented by Oxfam, Restless Development, Search for Common Ground, Youthmakers Hub, and ComDev Africa.
This project aims to foster a more youth-responsive and inclusive society by leveraging the combined expertise of these partners in youth-led and youth-informed work.

It addresses key issues related to Agenda 2063, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the AU-EU partnerships from a youth perspective.
The AU-EU Youth Voices Lab – PoC targets youth aged 15 to 35 from diverse backgrounds, including those living in hard-to-reach areas and those who are Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET).
The initiative involves 8,000 youth civil society groups across Africa, Europe, and the African Diaspora in Europe, as well as enablers and decision-makers from AU and EU governments, civil society organizations (CSOs), and corporations.
Requirements
— Commitment: You should be enthusiastic about participating in action-oriented activities at key continental events (e.g., AU, EU, or AU-EU partnership summits) and committing to the Youth Advisory Board for the full project duration of 3.5 years.
— Youth Advocacy: You must be an active young advocate involved in a youth-led organization, group, or movement, whether formal or informal.
— Respect and Openness: Demonstrate respect for diverse identities, trust in others’ knowledge and capabilities, and an open attitude towards different views and opinions.
— Experience: Leverage your knowledge and experience as a young leader in areas such as youth-led development, governance, education, gender, environment, climate justice, employment, health, rights-based initiatives, community development, and advocacy. Experience with grant or budget management is an asset.
— Age: You must be between 15 and 35 years old.
— Language Skills: Proficiency in English and/or French is required.

— Residency: You must currently reside in one of the project’s implementing countries: Burundi, Burkina Faso, Ghana, South Sudan, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Tunisia, or Belgium.
Deliverables
As a Youth Advisory Board Member, you will:
- Engage Online: Participate in discussions with other youth and stakeholders through digital platforms such as our project website, the Youth Voices Lab App, social media, and webinars.
- Attend Meetings: Join monthly online plenary meetings and one annual in-person gathering.
- Implement Action Plans: Contribute to the execution of the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab – PoC Action Plan.
- Address Ad-Hoc Issues: Provide input on and address specific issues or requests as they arise.
- Network: Connect with similar organizations and youth initiatives at regional, national, and international levels, including within the AU, EU, and partner countries.
- Participate in Training: Engage in capacity-building activities related to your role.
- Report on Activities: Submit an Activity Report after attending external engagements, meetings, or conferences to share what you have learned, achieved, and any challenges encountered.
Benefits
The position is voluntary, with allowances provided to cover transport, communication, and food expenses based on the assigned tasks.
Time Investment
The Youth Advisory Board will be established in September 2024. During this period, we will work together to develop concrete methods, timelines, and action plans.
