About the FCMB Agritech Hackathon

This year’s Hackathon and Venture Building Program offers grants, mentorship, and market access through corporate partnerships.
The FCMB Agritech Hackathon and Venture Building Program is designed to support and accelerate the growth of the agricultural sector by assisting agritech companies in addressing industry challenges.

The program includes a hackathon, where participants will receive support to develop their ideas and solutions, and a venture-building component, where selected teams will obtain funding, mentorship, and support to build and scale their solutions.
The program is supported by FMO and implemented by Heave Ventures.
The 2024 AgriTech Hackathon and Venture Building Program, supported by FMO, aims to identify and develop early-stage businesses across Africa.
The project will run for six months and is divided into two major phases:
- Hackathon
- Venture Building
The six-month program includes a three-month Hackathon with a prize-giving day, six weeks of venture-building sprints, and an Investor Day with a documentary premiere.
These components are designed to provide high-impact, innovative AgriTech startups with the business and product development tools they need to address agricultural challenges and attract follow-on investments.
The FCMB Agritech Hackathon focuses on the following thematic areas:

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the FCMB Agritech Hackathon and Venture Building Program 2024, applicants must meet the following criteria:
— Stage of Idea: Your business idea should be in its early stages of development.
— Team: You should have a team with a diverse set of skills and experience relevant to building an Agritech business. This can include expertise in agriculture, technology, business development, and marketing.
— Passion for Agriculture: You should have a strong enthusiasm for agriculture and a desire to make a positive impact in the industry.
— Commitment: You should be dedicated to fully participating in the program and working diligently to advance your venture.
— Legal Status: Your company must be legally registered, either as a business name or a limited entity. Individual teams of hackers are also encouraged to apply for the hackathon.
FCMB Agritech Hackathon Benefits
The top three teams will receive an exciting range of prizes! These rewards are designed not only to recognize your achievements but also to offer substantial support for further developing your projects.
The prizes include:
- Monetary Prize: Each winning team will receive a substantial financial reward to help advance their innovative health solutions, totaling 23,000,000 Naira.
- Venture Building Opportunity: Winners will have the opportunity to participate in a 6-week Venture Building program. This program will use top-tier product development methods and business advisory services to accelerate their progress and sales.
- Trophy: Each winning team will be awarded a commemorative plaque recognizing their outstanding talent and achievements in the Agri-Sector.
