About the Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship

This prestigious, fully-funded scholarship covers all expenses, including tuition fees, travel costs, and a monthly living allowance of £1,652.

Managed by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC), this scholarship is more than an opportunity to study abroad—it’s part of the UK’s commitment to international development through education.

Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, you must:
— Be a citizen or hold refugee status from an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.
— Live permanently in an eligible Commonwealth country.
— Be prepared to start your studies in the UK by September 2024.
— Have earned at least an upper second-class (2:1) honors degree, or a lower second-class degree with a relevant postgraduate qualification (such as a Master’s degree) by September 2024.*
— If applying for a second Master’s degree, explain why you need it, as this is usually not funded unless justified.
— Demonstrate that you would not be able to study in the UK without this scholarship.
— Ensure all supporting documents are in the correct format when you apply.
Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship includes:
— Airfare from your home country to the UK and back at the end of your studies (note: travel costs for dependents are not included).
— Full tuition coverage.
— A monthly living stipend of £1,347, or £1,652 if studying in London.
— An allowance for warm clothing if needed.
— A study travel grant for study-related travel within the UK or overseas.

— A child allowance for single parents, widowed, or divorced applicants with children living with them in the UK: £576.61 per month for the first child, and £143 per month for the second and third children under 16.
What You’ll Need
When applying, have the following ready:
— A list of all your undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications.
— Up to 10 of your publications and awards.
— Your employment history, including explanations of how each job relates to your intended program in the UK.
— A statement detailing how your past work experience aligns with your future scholarship plans.
— The names and positions of three referees who can attest to your ability to benefit from the scholarship and make an impact afterward—one should be your current employer, if applicable.
Development Impact Statement
Your Development Impact Statement should include the following four parts:
- Development Issues: Describe the development issues you’re passionate about from global, national, and local perspectives, especially how they relate to your chosen CSC theme.
- Application of Skills: Explain how you will use the skills gained from the scholarship after completing your studies.
- Planned Changes: Outline the changes you hope to achieve, your timeline for these changes, and the beneficiaries.
- Measuring Impact: Discuss how you plan to measure the impact of your work.
Additional Requirements
— Scholarship Goals: Confirm your scholarship goals and explain how this program will help you achieve them.
— Career Plans: Detail your career plans for the five years following the scholarship and your long-term career goals.
— Personal Statement: Share how your background has motivated you to make a difference in your home country. Highlight any challenges you’ve overcome and contributions you’ve made in your field.
— Volunteer and Leadership Experience: Provide details about your volunteer work and leadership experiences (up to 500 words).
— Identification: Include a scan of your passport or national identity card.
