About the IDC Bursary Program 2025
The Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa (IDC) is currently accepting applications for its 2025 Bursary Program.
The IDC is actively involved in human resource development and capacity building initiatives to address skills shortages in the country, supporting the recruitment and professional development of employees.

One such initiative includes providing bursaries or study assistance to eligible students.
Eligibility Requirements
— Age Eligibility:
— Applicants must be 16 years or older but not older than 25 years.
— Matric Students:
— Must have achieved a total average of 75% or above.
— Must be a South African citizen.
— Tertiary Students:
— Must have achieved a total average of 65% or above.
— Must be a South African citizen.
Benefits
— Tuition and campus accommodation paid directly to the university.
— Prescribed textbook fees paid directly to service providers upon submission of quotations and relevant documents.
— Accommodation at university-approved residences paid directly to the landlord based on an approved lease agreement.
— Meal allowance provided quarterly for students in self-catering residences on campus or at university-approved residences.
Application Procedure
Applications, along with supporting documents, must be submitted online.
Only applications from South African citizens with a valid ID number, residing in the Republic of South Africa, who are eligible for admission to a South African university or TVET (Technical Vocational Education and Training) college, and are not receiving sponsorship from an employer or another bursary, will be considered.

If you are currently enrolled in a degree program for which you are seeking a bursary, you must have successfully completed all registered courses for the previous study period at the university.
Applications must be for full-time studies toward an academic degree at an accredited South African university of technology. No bursaries are available for studies at colleges (e.g., Damelin, Boston, etc.) or private universities.
Selection Criteria
The IDC Bursary Scheme employs the following criteria to select successful applicants:
— Preference is given to applicants from rural areas.
— Academic excellence: Selection is based on June Grade 12 results compared to Grade 11 results, and if available, Grade 12 preliminary results.
— Targeting high-performing Grade 12 students with a minimum B aggregate symbol in Mathematics and Science.

— Applicants already at university must maintain at least a C aggregate average.
— Consideration will also be given to Grade 12 and recent academic performance for university or university of technology students who have completed one or more years.
