Introducing the ILO 2024 Global Media
Applications are now open for the 2024 ILO Global Media Competition on Labour Migration. This competition, hosted by the International Labour Organization (ILO), marks its tenth edition and seeks to recognize fair and balanced media coverage of labour migration issues.

Addressing the negative impacts of stereotypes and misinformation on migrant workers, this competition highlights the need for accurate and nuanced reporting.
Requirements
The competition welcomes submissions from both professional and student journalists. An expert panel comprising specialists in migration, forced labour, and journalism will judge the entries.
The evaluation criteria will consider creativity, accuracy, balance, and the positive representation of labour migration, including the multifaceted experiences of migrant workers.
Awards
Awards will be given in five categories: four professional prizes (one of which is a special award focused on forced labour and trafficking) and one student prize.

Winners can choose between a cash prize—US$1,200 for professionals and US$500 for students—or a paid fellowship to attend an online ITC-Turin course on fair recruitment, forced labour, or labour migration in 2025.
How to Enter
To participate, complete the online entry form and submit your work in one of the following formats: written press, photo essay, multimedia, podcast, video, or radio. Submissions are accepted in any language, but must include a translation in English, French, or Spanish. Students may submit either published or unpublished media pieces.
Timeline
— Submission Deadline: October 31, 2024, at 23:59 Central European Time.
— Announcement of Winners: December 2024, in celebration of International Migrants Day.
