About the Schlumberger Foundation Fellowship 2025
The Schlumberger Foundation Faculty Fellowship targets developing and emerging countries where women are underrepresented in STEM disciplines.
The Faculty for the Future program, established in 2004, provides fellowships to women from developing and emerging economies to pursue PhD or post-doctoral research in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields at leading universities worldwide.
The Schlumberger Foundation Fellowship 2025 is dedicated to achieving gender parity in science and acknowledges that full access to and participation in a STEM curriculum is crucial for empowering women and girls.

By supporting STEM research for women scientists in emerging economies, this fellowship aims to advance scientific and technological progress in the communities and regions from which the selected candidates come.
Since its inception in 2004, 863 women from 90 countries have received Faculty for the Future fellowships to conduct PhD and post-doctoral research in STEM at leading universities and research institutes outside their home countries.
The Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowship provides an annual grant of $50,000 to women from developing and emerging economies for pursuing PhD or post-doctoral research in STEM fields at top universities worldwide.

Eligibility Requirements
You are eligible to apply if:
— You are a female citizen of a developing country or emerging economy where women are underrepresented in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
— You do not hold secondary citizenship from a developed country. If you are awarded a Faculty for the Future grant and later acquire citizenship in a developed country, the grant will be discontinued as of the date you obtain this additional citizenship.
— You are preparing for PhD or postdoctoral studies in STEM. Note that the Faculty for the Future program does not fund Master’s level studies.
— You are currently enrolled at, admitted to, or have applied to a host university or research institute abroad. Applications will not be accepted if you have not yet applied to a university.
— If you are applying for a sandwich PhD program, the final degree must be awarded by the host university abroad (not solely by the home country university).
— You have an excellent academic record.

— You are willing to return to your home country or region after completing your studies to contribute to its socio-economic development.
— You have a proven record of teaching experience in your home country and can demonstrate your commitment to returning to:
— An academic or research position in a STEM faculty, and/or
— Using your knowledge to become a STEM entrepreneur to address regional challenges in your local community or region, and/or
— Demonstrating leadership by contributing to the public sector with your scientific skills to support evidence-based STEM policy making, including gender representation issues.
Can demonstrate leadership skills, active community outreach, and a proven track record of encouraging girls and women to pursue STEM fields.
Schlumberger employees are ineligible to apply for Faculty for the Future grants.
Schlumberger Foundation Fellowship 2025 Benefits
The Schlumberger Foundation Fellowship 2025 Faculty for the Future Fellowship 2025-2026 offers financial support to international students.
It provides a maximum scholarship of USD 50,000 per year for PhD candidates and up to USD 40,000 per year for post-doctoral researchers, with the possibility of renewal until the completion of their studies.
Selection Process/Criteria
The selection process involves five rounds:
- First Round: Applications are screened for compliance with eligibility criteria, including country of origin, discipline, and overall application quality. Non-compliant applications are eliminated.
- Second Round: A shortlist is created based on scoring of the following criteria:
— Academic performance
— Quality of references
— Scientific interest of the research proposal
— Commitment to teaching
— Relevance of research to the home country
— Commitment to inspiring young women to pursue studies in the sciences
— Quality of the host country university
3 . Third Round: The second shortlist is reviewed by the Schlumberger Foundation Fellowship 2025 scientific committee, focusing on the quality of the research proposal, scientific interest, and relevance to the home country.
4 . Fourth Round: The final shortlist of candidates is interviewed by telephone by members of the Schlumberger Foundation Board of Directors and Executive Management.
5 . Final Round: Grant recipients are selected by the Schlumberger Foundation Board of Directors.
