Introducing the Sony World Photography Awards
Applications are now open for the 2025 Sony World Photography Awards, the premier platform for photographers and artists in the field.
With four categories (Professional, Open, Student, and Youth), all entries are free, offering a top prize of $25,000.

Established 16 years ago, these awards are highly respected and have significantly advanced photographers’ careers, from established to emerging talents.
Professional Competition:
— Free entry
— Open to anyone submitting a series of 5 to 10 images per category
— Ten diverse categories available
— Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photographers, with up to 7 shortlisted photographers per category
— One overall winner receives the Photographer of the Year title
— Photographer of the Year earns a solo exhibition of their work at the Sony World Photography Awards London exhibition the following year
— Deadline: January 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM GMT
Open Competition:
— Free entry
— Open to anyone submitting single images taken in 2024
— Enter up to three single images for free
— Ten diverse categories available
— Awards for category winners, with up to 15 shortlisted photographers per category
— One overall winner receives the Open Photographer of the Year title
— Deadline: January 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM GMT

Youth Competition
— The competition runs from June 1, 2024, to January 3, 2025
— Photographers can submit up to three images on the theme ‘Through Your Eyes’
— Judges will select a shortlist of up to 10 photographers
— Shortlisted photographers compete for the Youth Photographer of the Year title
— The overall winner receives the Youth Photographer of the Year title and a Sony digital imaging kit

— Deadline for entries is January 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM GMT
Student Competition
— Free entry for anyone aged 18 to 30 years old undertaking a full-time photography program
— Students respond to a set brief with 5 to 10 images
— Up to 10 shortlisted photographers
— One overall winner receives the Student Photographer of the Year title
— Deadline for entries is November 29, 2024, at 1:00 PM GMT
