Introducing the Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program
Applications are now open for the 2025 Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program, a distinguished initiative aimed at shaping the future of business journalism.
Established in 2017, this program is designed to offer an immersive learning experience for journalists from around the globe.
Over the course of approximately 12 weeks, participants will reside at the Hyde Park campus, engaging in a range of educational and networking opportunities.

This program provides a unique chance for journalists to deepen their understanding of political economy and enhance their reporting skills.
The 2025 Spring session will run from March 19 to May 31. We invite applications from experienced journalists who are proficient in English and eager to expand their knowledge of business and economic reporting.
Program Highlights
Participants in the Journalists in Residence Program will benefit from:
— Financial Support: The program covers economy-class airfare to and from Chicago, as well as SEVIS and visa application fees. Additionally, participants receive a $14,000 stipend to cover living expenses during the program. Please note that the stipend is subject to a tax withholding of up to 14 percent for international participants.
— Educational Opportunities: Participants will have the chance to audit three classes at Chicago Booth, receiving training in essential business fundamentals. They will also attend seminars and workshops hosted by Booth and other university departments.
— Networking and Collaboration: The program facilitates interactions with leading faculty members, fellow journalists, and students. Participants can also contribute to the ProMarket publication and collaborate with Booth faculty and peers.
— Additional Perks: Participants will have access to a designated study space and will receive a certificate of participation upon successful completion of the program.
Program Expectations
To fully benefit from the program, participants are expected to:
— Audit three classes and actively engage in coursework, including completing all required readings and assignments.

— Attend and participate in Stigler Center events such as lectures, lunches, and social gatherings, as well as other recommended activities.
— Sign a letter of agreement acknowledging the program’s guidelines and expectations.
